Titans Release DT Jordan Elliott for Behavior Detrimental to the Team

Jordan Elliott made a snap decision that cost him his job and possibly his career.

In an incident that occurred on October 15. after Elliott got into an altercation with right tackle JC Latham, he retrieved a firearm from his car. Elliott never fired the firearm and was restrained from further violence by teammate John Franklin Myers.

A security camera caught him retrieving it from his car, and by doing so, he violated the NFL’s policy against firearms. NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said about the incident: “The league’s firearm policy prohibits any personnel from bringing a firearm to club facilities, stadiums, and team hotels, and on team planes.”

The following day, Titans coach Robert Saleh confirmed that Elliott was released, and also commented that “it was a terrible lapse in judgment that I recognize as a call for help more than a criminal act.’’ JC Latham’s take on the matter (as told to the Associated Press) was that “There ain’t been no bad blood between us two. We were here on the summer getting treatment.”

Elliot desperately wishes he could take back his actions, but now his NFL future is out of his hands. Teams will likely be wary of signing Elliott, even though he has contributed at this level. He played for the Cleveland Browns (2020-2023), the San Francisco 49ers (2024-2025), and was in his first season with the Tennessee Titans. His best season came with the Browns when he recorded 36 tackles (19 solo, 17 assisted) in 2022.
