High school basketball season in Ocean County, NJ is rapidly approaching, and fans are already marking Tuesday, December 8, on their calendars. The Point Pleasant Boro Panthers will host the Barnegat Bengals at 3:45 PM for a highly anticipated Shore Conference clash.
While opening night always brings a clean slate, early analysis puts the Panthers in a strong position. On3 data models project an 87% win probability for Point Boro, predicting a 61–46 final score. The analytics weigh heavily on Point Boro’s 17–10 record from last winter, combined with a home-court advantage at “The Den.”

While the numbers point to an opening-game win, the real story on the court centers on a newly formed powerhouse. The varsity lineup receives a massive boost with the transfer of sophomore guard Mason Williams, a high-level circuit player for the NJ Shoreshots UAA program.
Williams will join a group of returning, battle-tested veterans to lead the Panthers this winter. Star scorer Hunter Hynes returns to anchor the perimeter after a spectacular high school career that already includes a 1,000-point milestone. He will be joined down low by forward Landon Hoyle and sophomore Chase Scarponi.
Together, these four form a lethal lineup that local fans are already dubbing the “Boro Battalion.”
When the gym doors open, this explosive group is ready to blow off the roof!
