The Arizona Cardinals finished 3-14 in the 2025 NFL season, and there’s a good chance they’ll be as bad or worse this year.
Arizona fired Rich Gannon as head coach and hired Mike LaFleur as the new head coach. One of the biggest issues the Cardinals will face this season is at quarterback. Jacoby Brissett will be the starting quarterback, but it appears as if he may not start all the whole season. The Cardinals also have Gardner Minshew and Carson Beck on the roster.
With how loaded the NFC West is, there is a good chance that the Cardinals will be drafting at the top once again in the 2027 NFL Draft.
So, will they get the top selection in next year’s draft? Nick Baumgardner of The Athletic created his preseason 2027 NFL Mock Draft edition, and he predicts that the Cardinals will have the worst record in the NFL this season and land the number one pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. Baumgardner thinks that the Cardinals would select Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning with the #1 overall pick.
Something to remember, Baumgardner wrote, is that “both Manning and Dante Moore will have college eligibility left beyond the coming season, so they do not have to declare for the 2027 draft. Manning gets the early nod at No. 1, though, based on his ideal blend of size, arm talent and athleticism. But it’s very close between those two quarterbacks. Also keep in mind that the Jets currently hold three first-round selections in the ’27 class, so they’d be an obvious trade-up candidate.”
But here’s the thing. The Cardinals may not be the worst team in the NFL this season. The Miami Dolphins might be worse.
