How the Patriots Let Down Adam Vinatieri

Kickers are football players, too!

Moves here, Danny. I’m checking in because I want to publicly congratulate Adam Vinatieri on his Hall of Fame induction. Adam and I are kindred spirits, specialists both. He’s the GOAT as far as kicking the pigskin through the uprights. I kick like a Rockette.

Just in case you didn’t know, I teach coaches how to dance. Dancing is a game changer when it comes to bonding with players. Don’t take that for granted for a minute. But enough of my spiel. This is all about Adam.

While I was thrilled to see Adam get his due, I was appalled that Bill Belichick slighted him by not showing up for the ceremony. Adam cracked that he was probably off judging his girlfriend’s cheerleading competition.

In this day and age, that shouldn’t be funny in the slightest. If Belichick wants to support cheerleading, he shouldn’t be shamed. Nor should he be mocked for expressing his inner-mermaid.

Tom Brady was another conspicuous no-show. Look, I get it: PEDICURES ARE TIME-CONSUMING! However, he should’ve taken the time. And while we’re here, Adam should’ve been at your roast. He loves a good zinger, though the one about holding his balls didn’t quite land with me. What can I say?

Gronk was yet another no-show. If there’s anyone that I would expect to be there, it’s him. He plays the lovable fool like a champ, but he just might be the smartest guy in the room. And most of all: Gronk sticks up for the underappreciated, like the team’s kicker.

Let’s face it: the placekicker position is taken for granted. Adam should’ve been shown more respect by his teammates. Alas, I’ll say it: Kickers are football players too. Over and out.
