Coach Belichick, It’s Time to Embrace Your Inner Mermaid

, , , , , ,

Odds are that the Tarheels aren’t going to do much, if anything, this season on the field. So, Coach, think about ways to keep the fans entertained. Here’s one.

Moves here, Danny. Just in case you haven’t heard, I created the Danny Hurley Head Butt dance. It’s going to be bigger than Michael Jackson’s Thriller routine, eventually. But enough about me.

I’m writing because we’re kindred spirits. On the outside, you’re a hardcore football coach. On the inside, well, you’re a mermaid, a dancing one. If we’re all being honest. Who hasn’t had mermaid tendencies? I certainly have. It’s the best of both worlds.

And I think it’s wonderful that you support Jordan’s cheerleading. (By the way, I want to see more of her. Why isn’t she out there leading cheers? You’ve got a professional in the house. Use her!)

It might be a bridge too far for our conservative, hypocritical society, but have you considered taking out your pom poms and participating in some routines? You’ve got a great build to be a tosser. As far as the dance floor, I have a hunch that you’ve wanted to bust a move or two for a while now. Frankly, those torn sweatshirts that you adore scream Flashdance.

When you go to Ireland to play Notre Dame this season, I’m betting that you jig a night or two at a local pub. When in Rome….

Right now, UNC football is at a crossroads. Everyone’s consumed with winning. Enough already! Let’s lighten things up. Let’s all – me, you, Jordan and the entire team – embrace our inner mermaid and dance a little… or a lot. We could start with some water aerobics, followed by a night of line dancing. Baby steps!

Of course, I’ll be happy to assist. By the way, when I hear “Tarheels,” it rubs me the wrong way. How does the UNC Mermaids sound? Perhaps it will grow on you.

And if this season doesn’t work out, God forbid, there’s always Dancing with the Stars. You’d be a natural, and I think we could get Brady to help with wardrobe and cosmetics. What do you think?
