So there was a parade for the Knicks, followed by a ceremony. IMHO, here are the worst and best moments.
Life is not always just peaches and cream. That we know. But does that apply to the long-awaited celebration of a Knicks’ championship? You bet it did!
So ….
It would have been somewhat acceptable had Public Advocate Jumaane Williams said nothing of consequence. But he who referred to Jalen Brunson as Jalen Brown. Oh, my God!
City Comptroller Mark Levine tried to win votes by showing that he’s bilingual. It was all about him, not the circumstance.
City Council Speaker Julie Menin needs an analogy lesson. I think it was inappropriate, if not downright disrespectful, to compare winning an NBA championship to 9/11.
Mayor Mamdani gave the best speech of all the politicians, which is not saying much. However, he went on f a r too long.
Jalen Brunson wins points for telling Coach Mike Brown to stop “woofing.” It reeks of Travis Kelce.
Alicia Keys was the highlight of the ceremony. Her son accompanied her on the keyboard for part of her performance.
More Alicia, fewer politicians, please!
