Paul beat Ryan Bourland, but an injury sidelined Amanda Serrano.

Social media influencer-turned-boxer Jake Paul faced off Saturday night against former Golden Gloves champion Ryan Bourland and won the bout with a first-round TKO, the ninth win in Paul’s career and Bourland’s third loss.

It was Paul’s second time in the ring against a professional boxer after having previously faced MMA fighters and a basketball player. Paul’s win netted him $2 million, which he said before the fight that he’d donate to Boxing Bullies, an organization dedicated to instilling confidence in youth through boxing while speaking out/confronting bullying in society.

Also on the card, Amanda Serrano was set to face Nina Meinke in what many analysts called the biggest fight of Serrano’s career. But the bout didn’t take place. According to MVP, the hosting company, a hair product chemical got into Serrano’s eye, rendering her unfit to fight. Serrano’s honest explanation showed maturity in the face of adversity, but some fans attending the fight booed the cancellation announcement.

Jake Paul won his bout in Puerto Rico Saturday night, and Serrano acted with class.
