What an honor it was to interview the great Richmond Webb!

The Miami Dolphins are having a solid season with a 6-3 record going into Week 10, standing atop the AFC East. Miami’s success brings to mind players who contributed to past glory, including Richmond Webb, who spent a decade with the team. Webb earned first- or second-team All-Pro status in four of those seasons, and he was invited to the Pro Bowl seven times. Perhaps Webb’s most notable accolade was being named to the NFL’s 1990s All-Decade team.

Here’s what Webb had to say.

McElwain: What was your favorite part of your NFL career?

Webb: My favorite part of my NFL career was playing the game and competing at the highest level. Most of all, I liked playing for the legendary Coach Shula and playing with my teammates.

McElwain: Who are your favorite players currently?

Webb: As my favorite team is the Miami Dolphins, I would have to say anyone who plays for the Dolphins.

McElwain: Who are your football influences?

Webb: My football influences are the Dallas Cowboys. I grew up in Dallas during the days of Roger Staubach, Tony Dorsett, Too Tall Jones, Harvey Martin, Randy White, and the other greats.

McElwain: Describe football in one word.

Webb: Physical.

McElwain: Do you think the Dolphins have a chance at a Super Bowl this season?

Webb: I believe that the Dolphins are one of the top teams in the NFL right now. They should have a good chance to make it to the playoffs and the Super Bowl if there are no injuries and they play up to expectations.

McElwain: What’s your advice to anyone wanting to go into football?

Webb: My advice is to be patient. Be a student of the game. Give it 100 percent. You will have no regrets if you truly love the game.

McElwain: How do you want to be remembered?

Webb: I want to be remembered as one of the best ever to play the game, a great teammate, and a team player. In general, I want to be remembered as someone who loves people and treats people how I want to be treated.

McElwain: Lastly, which teams do you want to see in the Super Bowl this year?

Webb: I would love to see the Dolphins in the Super Bowl this year. No other team matters unless we win.
