The U.S. Women’s 3X3 team beat France to win the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) World Cup.
Women’s 3×3 basketball teams comprise four players, one on the bench, and teams play for twenty-one minutes. The game ends earlier if a team reaches twenty-one points.
In the FIBA competition, played every four years, the USA fielded a combination of professional and collegiate experience, including Cameron Brink, Cierra Burdick, Linnae Harper, and Haley Van Lith.
The tournament was created by the (FIBA) and launched in 1953. Known originally as FIBA World Championship for Women, the name changed in 2014 to what it is known today.
The U.S. women’s team dominated this year’s competition, getting an early lead in the finals vs. France, prevailing 16-12. On the men’s side, the U.S. lost to Serbia, 21-19.
