Such a Hot Dog, Chestnut Wins Again

,

Every July 4th, Nathan’s Hot Dogs holds their annual hot dog eating contest on Coney Island, New York. This year, Joey Chestnut won his eighth consecutive title and fifteenth in the last sixteen years.

In 2020, there was a contest but no crowd because of COVID-19. That said, Chestnut broke the record that year with 75 dogs eaten, and he eclipsed that number by one in 2021. He didn’t break the record on Tuesday (62 dogs eaten in ten minutes), and he had to wait to do it, courtesy of a two-hour rain delay that almost got the event canceled. Miki Sudo won on the women’s side, becoming a nine-time winner in the women’s division.
