The first fifteen games of the Premier League season have yielded astonishing success for Mikel Arteta’s revitalized team. Going into the New Year’s Eve game against Brighton, Arsenal are firmly planted at the top of the Premier League at 13-1-1, with 40 points.
Arteta’s achievements as a young manager are stunning. Yes, it took time for Arsenal to make the progress that they have made under the Spaniard, and it is also true that there was much speculation circulating regarding whether or not the club would stick it out with him. But the club’s patience has paid off, and Arsenal could win the league for the first time since the 2003-04 season.
The moral of this story is that patience, even during difficult times, can be the starting point for something truly exceptional.
