“Merging Vets and Players,” An Incredibly Good Idea

The Sylvester Stallone-produced film premiers on September 14.

Combat veterans and former professional athletes are coming together for peer support through Merging Vets and Players (MVP), an organization founded by Nate Boyer in 2015. Boyer, a Green Beret, played for the Seattle Seahawks. His partner is Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer. Boyer and Glazer want to connect combat veterans and former professional athletes. The purpose is to offer assistance and support and let them know they are never alone.

I think it’s a great thing these two men are doing. Nate and Jay wrote/directed a movie based on their story, with Sylvester Stallone serving as executive producer. MVP, the film, opens wide next week.

About Matthew Paris

I grew up an avid Houston sports fan. After graduating from Texas Tech University in Theater and English Literature I worked as a marketing rep and coach for I9 Sports, coaching baseball, flag football, soccer, and basketball. I’m currently with Austin Sports Academy as a marketing coordinator, baseball and football coach, and coordinator of middle school and high school open play nights. I’ve written three short films for Looknow Productions and have also written articles on film marketing, producing, and directing. I really enjoy writing about sports and being an active contributor to The Sports Column.

This is awesome what these guys are doing. This is just another way to help our veterans. This is an excellent article and I think this needs to get out there for more people to see and be aware of. Great job Matthew Paris. Thanks for bringing this info to light!
