Dusty Baker Reaches Career Milestone with Astros’ 100th Win of Season

, ,

The fourth manager to win 100 games in both leagues, the Astros did it for the fifth time in franchise history.

The Houston Astros reached the 100-win mark on Saturday when the team staged a four-run rally to beat the Orioles in an 11-10 slugfest. It was the first time that Dusty Baker had piloted an American League team to a 100-win season, matching what he accomplished in his very first season as a National League manager (1993) with the San Francisco Giants.

Baker is the fourth manager in Major League history to win 100 games in both leagues. The others are Sparky Anderson (Reds and Tigers), Whitey Herzog (Royals and Cardinals), and Tony LaRussa (A’s and Cardinals).

As a team, the Astros have reached the century mark five times–in 1998, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2022.

Congrats to Dusty Baker. Having clinched the AL West, let’s see what the Houston Astros can do in the postseason.
