The World Cup is one of the world’s biggest sporting tournaments. Every four years, fans pack sports bars, and stadiums, and watch/listen at home to follow their national team.

Now, Texas is excited about the games because the World Cup is coming to the Lone Star State and the city of Houston. Houston beat out 16 other bids to win the right to host World Cup 2026.

Houston is the fourth-largest city in the United States. It’s vibrant and diverse, and we are a huge sports town–not just one, but many sports at all levels. Sports also help the economy, and the World Cup will be a gigantic boost.

Houston’s 2026 World Cup Committee has been working for years to show FIFA that the city is ready to host this global event. With the mission accomplished, it’s time to put plans into action.

Congrats, Houston!
