Here Are My 2022 NFL First Round Mock Draft Selections

, ,

Aidan Hutchinson looks to be the #1 overall selection for Jacksonville, and Jacksonville needs a defensive end. To me, Kyle Hamilton looks like the natural #2 pick.

If it turns out that way, Ikem Ekwonu or Evan Neal need not fret. Detroit needs a safety but doesn’t seem to need an offensive lineman. So if Ekwonu or Neal were to drift to third and four, that wouldn’t be an oversight or besmirchment of their respective abilities.

Hamilton is rated #1 at his position, and safety is what the Lions need. If Detroit bites, that puts Ekwonu or Neal with Houston and the other with the Jets. They seem almost interchangeable skill-wise with essentially the same ability rating. Ekwonu is considered #1 at the position, with Neal at #2.

After those two, who knows who the Giants will take with their fifth pick? It will be either a top receiver or top cornerback, probably WR Garret Wilson. The Giants were a bit abysmal statistically on the passing side last year,  second to last with just fifteen passing touchdowns, three ahead of Jacksonville.

At #6, Carolina would be set in line to select cornerback Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner. At #7 (with their second pick in the first round), the Giants could focus on DE, selecting either Kayvon Thibodeaux or Travon Walker. NYG will likely take Thibodeaux, and the Falcons will get Walker.

At #9, I see Seattle taking WR Drake London, and DE Jermaine Johnson heads to the Jets. Then, d-back Derek Stingley Jr. goes to Washington. Minnesota picks LB Nakobe Dean, and Houston picks LB Devin Lloyd. Both teams need linebackers, and these guys are too good to pass up.

R9unding out the Top 20….Trent McDuffie joins Baltimore at cornerback. Philadelphia takes DT Jordan Davis. The Saints need an offensive lineman and select Charles Cross. The Chargers get Chris Olave at wide receiver, and Philadelphia picks up C Tyler Linderbaum. WR Jameson Williams goes to New Orleans, and QB Malik Willis becomes a Steeler.
