Texas School for the Deaf Wins State Title

,

In Texas, fans think about football all year round–reflecting on past seasons and preparing for the next. The Texas School for The Deaf will never forget 2020.

The 2020 season almost didn’t happen. Superintendent Claire Bugen thought seriously about canceling the schedule because of COVID-19. The pandemic also depleted the squad. So when the decision was finally made to move forward with the season, the school switched from 11-man to 6-man football.

The Rangers not only won, but they also won a lot and won big. They dominated the state championship game, winning 63–23. It was the school’s first state title in its 63-year program.

Congrats to coach John Moore and the players! It’s a memory worth cherishing.
