Shammi Rana Honored by President Biden for Lifetime Achievements

The award is for Rana’s devotion and commitment to conserving and promoting Traditional Sports and Games.

Amritsar, India-born Shammi Rana, the Secretary-General of the International Council of Traditional Sports and Games (ICTSG), has been honored with The President’s Lifetime Achievement Award 2021 by President of the United States President Joseph R. Biden Jr.

His contributions span far and wide, including his role in promoting the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO’s) mission in TSG across the globe through diplomacy and support for sports organizations.

In 2017, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization appointed Rana Rapporteur of the UNESCO Traditional Sports and Games Ad Hoc Advisory Committee. In that role, Rana promoted the UNESCO Mandate on Traditional Sports and Games.

With over two decades of experience as a promoter of sports, sports organizations, and sports diplomacy, Shammi Rana continues to enhance Traditional Sports and Games worldwide.
