McElwain: When will we see you back in the ring?

May: I hope to be back as a fully active martial artist, if not by the end of the year, then in 2022.

McElwain: Who is your favorite opponent and why?

May: Mason Waldrop. The dude knows how to push the pace and keep coming. We’re currently 1-1 against each other, and I hope to get a rubber match soon.

McElwain: Who are your boxing influences and why?

May: Riddick Bowe and Mike Tyson inspired me to strap on a pair of gloves. I just love their aggressive styles, and Bowe’s jab is unbelievably underrated. I’ve also been blessed beyond belief over the years with a series of coaches who have contributed to my development.

McElwain: What is your opinion of Jake Paul?

May: I mean, he knows how to make headlines and also how to make money while he’s doing it. I think he represents himself like a fool, but, hey, he has made millions doing it. And if it gets his bills paid, what are you gonna do? As far as his credibility as a boxer is concerned, I won’t lie to you and say he can’t fight. The dude knows how to fight but, if he’s gonna get proper respect as a boxer, he needs to fight BOXERS–not wrestlers, YouTuber’s, or MMA fighters. BOXERS!

McElwain: Do you have any advice for anyone trying to get into sports?

May: Be patient with yourself. Anything you do in life that is meaningful is gonna take time. Sports are no different. Whether it’s developing a new skill or trying to get yourself on a bigger stage, it’s gonna take time. You have to be patient with yourself and let go of what you can’t control.
