Monday Night Football: Cowboys-Eagles Fight It Out for NFC East Lead

, , ,

Lots of talent will be on the field tonight in MNF.

Can quarterback Jalen Hurts, wide receiver Devonta Smith, running back Miles Sanders, and the Philadelphia Eagles defense bounce back from a hard-fought 17-11 loss to the San Francisco 49ers? They’ll have to do it against a talented Cowboys’ backfield and a solid defense that propelled Dallas to a 20-17 over the same Chargers’ team that stymied the KC Chiefs on Sunday.

To win, Hurts and company will need to resurface an offense that passed and ran the Eagles to a Week 1 win over the Falcons, 32-6. Hurts gashed the Atlanta defense for 326 yards of total offense, and Sanders had 113 total yards. Heisman Trophy winner Devonta Smith made his NFL debut by gaining 71 yards and scoring a touchdown.

The problem is that Dallas (just like the 49ers last week) has a top-15 defense, ranked #12 this week. Last week, Jaylon Smith and Leighton Vander Esch combined for sixteen tackles.

But the Philly defense has had its moments, too. The Eagles’ stop troops haven’t given up more than twenty points a game so far this year, and (collectively) the D has registered a total of 79 tackles.

Get ready for some football! Kickoff is set on NBC for 8:15 p.m. Eastern Time.
