Big Announcement Today: Final Downloadable Character in “Smash Bros. Ultimate”

,

Today, we find out who will be the final DLC character for the MMA-style video game Smash Bros Ultimate. The release is scheduled for 6p. Eastern Time on Nintendo Direct. Here’s what I think about choices.

We have already seen Kazuya from Tekken, Banjo and Kazooie, Steve from Minecraft, Mario, Ken and Ryu from Street Fighter, Terry from Fatal Fury and King of Fighters, Luigi, Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Bayonetta, Byleth, Ice Climbers, and many other fighters join the roster. Six are MMA-fighters, including Ken, Ryu, King K. Rool, and Terry.

Here are seven fighters that I think would end Fighters Pass 2 on a high note.

1. Scorpion from Mortal Kombat: We have Street Fighter, King of Fighters, and Tekken representing MMA games in Smash. So it would make sense to add in Mortal Kombat as a final MMA game representative. Scorpion’s moveset would consist of his signature bloody moves, toned down for the sake of ratings, with the Final Smash being his signature ‘Get Over Here!’ move.

2. Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat: Sub-Zero, like Scorpion, would also be an excellent choice to round out the fighter pass as a last MMA game representative. His moveset would incorporate his ice powers and signature moves, toned down, with the final Smash being a blizzard that sends the opponent flying through the air.

3. Phoenix Wright from Ace Attorney and Marvel vs. Capcom III: While Phoenix Wright is the Jake Paul of fighting games, as he was initially a lawyer before making his fighting debut in Marvel vs. Capcom III, I feel like a good case can be made for him in Smash. His moveset would consist of all of his signature moves from Marvel vs. Capcom, with the Final Smash being the most complicated of them all. You send the opponent flying into a courtroom, where they land on a stand. Then, Wright comes in and yells ‘OBJECTION!’ at the top of his lungs, as the word comes out of a speech bubble and launches the opponent out of the arena.

4. Chun-Li from Street Fighter: We have Ryu and Ken from Street Fighter in Smash, so why not add in the female fighter, Chun-Li? Her moveset would consist of usual punches and kicks, all fast-paced, with her final Smash being a series of swift kicks.

5. Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal: Twisted Metal was one of the most successful monster truck demolition derby games in the world during the early days of Playstation. So it seems fitting that the ice cream truck-driving Sweet Tooth has a spot in Smash. All of his moves would incorporate his truck and a chain, with the Final Smash being all of the trucks from Twisted Metal running into the opponent at once.

6. Chop Chop Master Onion from Parappa the Rapper: The onion kung-fu instructor who helps Parappa learn the skills he needs to defend his friends would be an unlikely choice for Smash to some but hear me out on the moveset. The moveset of Chop Chop Master Onion would consist of kicks, punches, turns, poses, jumps, ducks, and chops, with the onion saying each move as a rap. The Final Smash would be a music video of Chop Chop and Parappa beating up the opponent with their karate moves as they rap about kung-fu, bringing you back to the days of Parappa the Rapper.

7. Mii Sports: As I previously states, with the Wii Fit Trainer in Smash Ultimate, it would only make sense for the Mii Sports athletes to be featured in the game as well. The moveset would consist of moves inspired by sports such as golf, football, and soccer. The final Smash would be the opponent being knocked out of the arena by a giant golf club for an instant KO.

The Nintendo Direct takes place today at 3p Pacific time/6p. Eastern time. See who will round out the final DLC of Smash.

Honorable Mention

1. Doomslayer from Doom
2. Crash Bandicoot
3. Master Chief from Halo
4. Sora from Kingdom Hearts
5. Rayman
6. Goku
