I’d Like to See the Harlem Globetrotters in the NBA!

,

Trotters deserve a franchise.

There are 30 teams in the NBA. Every other major sports league has 32. The city of Seattle has already spoken, WE WANT A NBA TEAM! And the Harlem Globetrotters have sent a letter to the NBA and Adam Silver stating “we want a seat at the table” and “RIGHT NOW!”

They can make a good case, too. Many NBA players started their careers with Harlem, including Willie Gardener, Wilt Chamberlain, and Nathaniel Clifton. Wilt still holds the NBA record for most points scored in a game–100 points–against the New York Knicks in 1962.

And it’s not just players that distinguish the Harlem Globetrotters. The franchise has won over 27,000 games, and the team contributed significantly to the racial integration of the NBA. So you can see why the Trotters want a seat at the NBA table.

I don’t know if that will happen, but what I do know is this: Harlem deserves to be part of the NBA!
