Rapper J. Cole Signs Contract to Play Basketball in Africa

, ,

The new Basketball Africa League will feature a high-profile American rap star.

With hits like A Lot with 21 Savage, Middle Child, and, my personal favorite, Workout, J. Cole has an impressive discography. Now, he’s embracing his other love–the cage game.

A high school star recruited by St. John’s (NY), Cole never played in a D-1 game because he decided to put basketball on the back burner as he pursued a music career–until now, that is. Today, ESPN reported that Cole is expected to make his pro-basketball debut. It is expected to happen this Sunday when he suits up to play for the Rwanda Patriots in the Basketball Africa League.

But don’t expect music to take a backseat. This Friday, Cole will release a highly anticipated album, The Off-Season. And, today, he’ll release a new documentary, Applying Pressure: The Off-Season Documentary.

Good luck this Sunday, J. Cole!
