G O A L! MLS’s Nashville SC Makes Its Mark on Music City

, ,

‘Impressive’ is the word that applies. Here’s why.

There is something hypnotic about sitting in the stands at a Nashville Soccer Club match. Constant rhythmic drumming and well-coordinated chants provided by the club’s die-hard supporters, the ‘Backline Roadies,’ create a mesmerizing and tribal atmosphere.

Tempo the Coyote!

Take away? The second-year MLS franchise just might have a better chance of unifying the region’s populace than either of the city’s other pro sports entities–the Titans or Predators.

The stands in Nissan Stadium are regularly filled with footy fans from Nashville – many of whom came to love the sport in regions of the world where the game is much more popular than it is in the States. They came here from Latin America, Africa, and Europe. and are making Greater Nashville a melting pot.

The team mascot, Tempo, helps build unity among fans by taking friendly shots at the competition. He calls Montreal ‘Syrup City” and jabs at the way Bostonians pronounce words, “It is Lobster,” Tempo says, “NOT Lobstah!”

Supporters and scenes at recent Nashville SC matches, including ‘The 615’

The owners of Nashville SC know the importance of community-mindedness. Toward that end, they created an outreach program called Section 615 presented by DEX Imaging.

Named after Music City’s area code, 615 is a special section in Nissan Stadium. It’s special because it has seats designated for local people and groups who are doing good work in and around Nashville. Fans and members of the community can nominate individuals or groups to sit there. Those selected get match tickets, t-shirts, and video board recognition.

Nashville SC has also announced that Century Farms in Antioch is the spot where the club will build its new multi-million-dollar training complex. Centrally located in the heart of Nashville’s fastest-growing corridor–just 10 miles southeast of Downtown–the complex is extremely accessible to a four-county area.

The 15-acre complex will feature three full-size soccer pitches as well as a state-of-the-art sports facility designed to host Nashville SC’s first team and staff. The first-class practice facility is sure to impact this region and be a morale booster, too.

There’s more! The club is spearheading the Nashville SC Academy as a fully funded, elite youth soccer program. Based in Nashville. the purpose is to grow the game by providing players with an unparalleled youth soccer experience.

And let’s face it, there’s a lot to be said about connecting soccer with music! Many of the world’s top musicians, guitar players, and country stars live here.

Nashville SC is working hard to build a community of musician supporters – and, so far, so good.

Thanks to Gibson Guitars and their Opening Guitar Riff of the Game, fans attending matches may see rock legends like Dave Mustaine and John Oates tear it up on a gold and blue Les Paul. The National Anthem allows more singers to show off their chops, including recent appearances by artists on the rise like Jessie James Decker, RaeLynn, and Breland.

So, it is easy to see how the presence of Nashville SC is adding zest to this unique city and region.

And stay tuned! There’s more to come … and the best to come, too.
