Final Thoughts and Projected Draft Picks: NFL Draft 2021

,

Because Draft 2021 is rich and deep, a lot of young talent will come into the league this year.

I wasn’t trying to disrespect Kyle Pitts in my previous article on the upcoming NFL draft. I think he will likely become a Bengal or a Falcon. But I also thought that the Falcons might pass on him because they might go for another quick receiver to compliment Jones and Ridley–rather than go with the larger size of Pitts at tight end.

It seems like a speedster receiver, like Jaylen Waddle, would fit well for Matt Ryan. But perhaps they will take Penei Sewell because they have so many tight ends and receivers on the roster. I do think Pitts would be too high a talent to pass over for long.

The appeal of top O-lineman in Sewell makes sense with the Burrow addition last year. But Pitts as a scoring option would suit the Bengals quite well. And if the Bengals bite on Pitts, that puts Sewell with the Panthers=–if, somehow, Atlanta passes on him.

Here’s how I think things will settle.

  • Trevor Lawrence, Jaguars
  • Zach Wilson, Jets
  • Ja’ Marr Chase, 49ers
  • Sewel, Falcons
  • Pitts, Bengals
  • Justin Fields, Broncos
  • DeVonta Smith, Lions
  • Waddle, Panthers
  • Caleb Farley, Dolphins
  • Qwity Paye, Cowboys
  • Rashod Slater or Alijah Vera-Tucker, Giants
  • Micah Parsons, Eagles
  • Trey Lance, Chargers
  • Patrick Surtain, Vikings
  • Azeez Ojulari, Patriots
  • Vera-Tucker or Slater to Cardinals
  • Terrace Marshall, Raiders
  • Mac Jones to WFT
  • Kadarius Toney, Bears (unless Chicago makes a trade, which they are sitting in a perfect position to do)
  • Jayson Oweh, Colts,
  • Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Titans
  • Teven Jenkins, Jets
  • Jaycee Horn, Steelers
  • Trevon Moehrig-Woodard, Jaguars,
  • Christian Darrisaw, Browns
  • Rashod Bateman, Ravens
  • Jalen Mayfield, Saints
  • Travis Etienne, Packers
  • Christian Barmore, Bills
  • Levi Onuwuzurike, Chiefs
  • Samuel Cosmi, Buccaneers.

Then I have it as Najee Harris, Zaven Collins, Jamin Davis, Greg Newsome, Jaelan Phillips, Nick Bolton, Javonte Williams, Ronnie Perkins, Liam Eichenberg, Joe Tryon, Gregory Rousseau, Asante Samuel, Jr.

Because Draft 2021 is rich and deep, a lot of young talent will come into the league this year. Then, the speculation will begin regarding which players and teams will benefit in 2021.

I, for one, am ready to see what “my team” does Thursday through Sunday. I’ll bet you are, too.
