It’s that time of the year, and here is my full and complete list of 2021 NFL Draft picks–by round, team, player, position, and school.


ROUND 1

1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence (QB Clemson)
This may be the biggest no-brainer draft history, as the Jaguars find their franchise QB in Lawrence who has the elite arm talent and underrated athleticism.

2. New York Jets: Zach Wilson (QB BYU)
The Jets reset their franchise by adding Wilson, who is an efficient passer with the ability to improvise and extend plays with his feet.
Player Comparison: Russell Wilson (QB Seattle Seahawks)

3. San Francisco 49ers: Mac Jones (QB Alabama)
With the consistent injury issues with Jimmy Garrapolo, the 49ers land their future signal-caller as Jones is proficient in distributing the ball quickly, making him an ideal fit in Kyle Shannahan’s offense.
Player Comparison: Derek Carr (QB Las Vegas Raiders)

4. Atlanta Falcons: Trey Lance (QB North Dakota State)
This pick is almost certain to be traded but with Lance on the board, the Falcons can take the necessary time to develop the inexperienced but talented QB behind Matt Ryan.

5. Cincinnati Bengals: Penei Sewell (OT Oregon)
There are a lot of talks about the Bengals taking a pass catcher, but the priority should be to protect Joe Burrow, as Sewell is rarely beat off the edge, while dominating in the run game.

6. Miami Dolphins: Kyle Pitts (TE Florida)
The Dolphins committed to Tua Tagovailoa this offseason and find him the ultimate weapon, as Pitts can stretch the field as an in-line TE or out wide, creating mismatches all over the field.

7. Detroit Lions: Micah Parsons (LB Penn State)
The Lions are looking for cornerstone players to build around and Parsons has all the tools to be a dominant MLB, as he is dynamic as a blitzer, while being excellent against the run.
Player Comparison: Roquan Smith (LB Chicago Bears)

8. Carolina Panthers: Rashawn Slater (OT Northwestern)
With the addition of Sam Darnold, the Panthers add Slater’s elite footwork and physical ability to build up their offensive so he has time to distribute to their plethora of playmakers.
Player Comparison: David Bahktiari (OT Green Bay Packers)

9. Denver Broncos: Justin Fields (QB Ohio State)
Even with the addition of Teddy Bridgewater, the Broncos will be open to finding a longterm answer at QB and by adding Fields, they get an athletic QB, with a strong arm, who is a proven winner.

10. Dallas Cowboys: Patrick Surtain II (CB Alabama)
The Cowboys are in the process of rebuilding their defense and Surtain provides them a true lock-down CB, that plays smart and physical in all aspects of the game.

11. New York Giants: DeVonta Smith (WR Alabama)
The Giants are building around Daniel Jones with key additions this offseason and Smith gives them another element as a smooth route runner and an explosive player with the ball in his hands.

12. Philadelphia Eagles: Ja’Marr Chase (WR LSU)
With a struggling offense, the Eagles add Chase’s playmaking ability, as he is a complete WR, who can stretch the field and play physically with the ball in the air.
Player Comparison: Julio Jones (WR Atlanta Falcons)

13. Los Angeles Chargers: Jaycee Horn (CB South Carolina)
After making changes to their CB room this year, Horn gives the Chargers a physical corner who gets into WRs and forces turnovers as well as anyone in the draft.
Player Comparison: Marlon Humphrey (CB Baltimore Ravens)

14. Minnesota Vikings: Christian Darrisaw (OT Virginia Tech)
With the Vikings cycling through LTs the past couple of years, they find a cornerstone on the blindside in Darrisaw, who is physical in the run game and stout against edge rushers.

15. New England Patriots: Jaylen Waddle (WR Alabama)
Though the Patriots have added several weapons this offseason, Waddle provides another element as he can take the top off the defense and is explosive with the ball in his hands.

16. Arizona Cardinals: Caleb Farley (CB Virginia Tech)
Patrick Peterson left this offseason, so the Cardinals fill the void with Farley, who is a standout on the outside with size and coverage skills to lock down WRs.

17. Las Vegas Raiders: Alijah Vera-Tucker (OL USC)
The Raiders are rebuilding their offensive line and add Vera-Tucker’s versatility to play any position with his power and athleticism.

18. Miami Dolphins: Jaelan Phillips (DE Miami)
Miami’s defense is looking for more athleticism off the edge and Phillips has the ideal combination of size and speed to wreak havoc in the backfield.

19. Washington Football Team: Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (LB Notre Dame)
Washington’s defensive front is stout but could use athleticism on the second level where Owusu-Koramoah excels as a hybrid LB with excellent coverage skills.

20. Chicago Bears: Teven Jenkins (OT Oklahoma State)
The Bears offensive line has struggled the past couple of years and Jenkins is a stalwart at either tackle spot who is physical against speed rushers off the edge.

21. Indianapolis Colts: Rashod Bateman (WR Minnesota)
With Carson Wentz taking over at QB, the Colts added another weapon to a young offense in Bateman, who has great hands and runs crisp routes to get open.

22. Tennessee Titans: Greg Newsome II (CB Northwestern)
The Titans have turned over their CB room over the past two years and Newsome II gives them a smooth CB, who plays tight coverage down the field with excellent technique.

23. New York Jets: Najee Harris (RB Alabama)
After adding a franchise QB earlier, they give him an elite weapon in the backfield, as Harris has the size to run through defenders while having underrated speed and pass-catching ability.

24. Pittsburgh Steelers: Creed Humphrey (C Oklahoma)
The Steelers are looking at a mass overhaul to their offensive line and sure up the Center spot with a smart and instinctive player that can lead the unit for the next decade.

25. Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevon Moehrig (S TCU)
The Jaguars added several CBs to the mix the past couple of seasons and Moehrig will make them better as he is a playmaker on the back end, that can force turnovers in the deep third or step up in the box against the run.

26. Cleveland Browns: Christian Barmore (DT Alabama)
After letting their starting DTs leave this offseason, the Browns fill the void will a game-wreaker on the inside in Barmore, who utilizes his power and quick feet to make plays in the backfield.

27. Baltimore Ravens: Terrace Marshall Jr (WR LSU)
As the Ravens look to expand their passing game with Lamar Jackson, Marshall Jr gives them a big and fast WR, who knows how to get open, while making plays with the ball in the air.

28. New Orleans Saints: Elijah Moore (WR Ole Miss)

About Brett Dickinson

I am the Creator and Developer of “The Sports Column.” I studied Journalism at Salisbury University before gaining experience in broadcast for large media markets, Baltimore (WBAL Sports) and Washington D.C. (SportsWeek with Lavar Arrington), with titles as a Producer and Videographer. I co-hosted the Brett and Barry Show on WNST 1570am Baltimore and produced for the other programs at the station. I am currently the Executive Director of the Ed Block Courage Award Foundation and an overnight producer/board operator for CBS Radio in Baltimore.
