This Video Game Combines Solid Advice with Sports

“You gotta’ believe’ is a message that never goes out of style.

One of my all-time favorite video games is the Playstation classic, Parappa the Rapper. It’s about a rapping dog and his friends, and one of the video’s themes is believing in yourself. That’s a big reason why I like the game.

There’s a sports dimension to the game, too … another reason why I like it. In Parappa One, you rap with a kung-fu master, Chop Chop Master Onion, and learn MMA skills.

Chop Chop Master Onion returns in Parappa Two, but this time as host of a workout program that combines kung-fu and romance. Then, at another level, Parappa goes through basic military training to save the universe from being turned into noodles. This training includes running, skating, jumping, and climbing.

For me, at least, the sports link adds spice to that all-important message: You gotta believe!
