Dolphins Part Ways with Kyle Van Noy

Van Noy has good years left.

It might be surprising to hear me say, but I am not surprised that the Dolphins cut Kyle Van Noy. First and foremost, it is not a reflection of poor performance or bad play and most certainly should not be considered as such. He has a really high price tag. They are clearing cap space for their franchise.

I know it was reported that he was battling a hip injury, and as long as that hip injury isn’t more serious than it sounds, his football days aren’t done. He was a great linebacker for the New England Patriots defense, and any team wise enough to pay him and sign him would greatly improve their team’s defense and their team overall.

There is no reason that he should have to walk away from football. There has to be a team that can pay him if his hip injury isn’t serious. Whatever team does pay him will be making a move to better that squad immediately.

Van Noy really isn’t a talent you want to let walk away from football, and while he is available, some team would be very savvy in picking him up to improve their team. If shopping for a Super Bowl wins immediately, a guy has the experience to bring your statistical numbers up quickly. He gives your team anywhere from around 60 to 100 tackles, and he is only going to be thirty years old.

He started with Detroit, but that doesn’t mean they can’t pick him back up. The Detroit Lions would be very smart to pick up Van Noy. I don’t know Detroit’s situation with their football team or how they handle the business of building their football team for a run at championship glory, but I don’t think they should be afraid to discuss having Van Noy join their football team again with him.

What’s the worst that could happen? He could say no, I don’t want to play football anymore. Nothing lost other than a talented player leaving the game of football. I am assuming that Detroit has cap space and the budget to pay Van Noy, but it would be a smart move for that franchise. Detroit finished in the last place defensively in 2020.

Other teams could benefit from him, too, including the Raiders, Vikings, and Cowboys. Those four franchises could immediately benefit from Van Noy’s linebacker skills.

Van Noy has good years left. So now we wait and see how 2021 turns out for him. It’s like someone shaking the dice cup, and we wait to see who gets Yahtzee.
