But he didn’t like to practice.

Rapper Playboi Carti is well known for making hits such as wokeuplikethis, @Meh, and the upcoming Whole Lotta Red album. But did you know that Carti, or Sir Cartier, used to play basketball?

Carti played point guard at North Springs Charter High School in Atlanta, Georgia. As he told The Fader, “I was a young AI. That was the time I was really ducking school and it was all hoop and no rap. I would smoke before practice, get on the court, and drop 30.”

He was inspired by Michael Jordan and Vince Carter and wanted to be in the NBA. But unlike his favorites, Carti didn’t practice much and he quit the game after having an argument with his coach.

Carti then traded basketball for a microphone. The rest is history.
