Memo to Mike Tyson: ‘You’re 53 Now’

Will Tyson make a comeback? Some say it makes no sense.

Mike Tyson is making boxing comeback. In a YouTube video, Tyson is seen in training. Tyson’s punches seem powerful, perhaps as powerful as they were in his glory days of the 90s.

There’s just one problem. Will Iron Mike be able to beat younger boxers? Could he beat Evander Holyfield? Well, some of boxing’s thought leaders are warning Tyson not to make a comeback. UFC owner Dana White is begging Tyson to stay out of the ring. Promoter Eddie Hearn says that a Tyson return would be ‘just plain irresponsible.’

My take is that each person needs to do what she or he thinks is best. But I do have advice. Mike, you’re not the young man you were decades ago. You’re 53 years old today. Yes, you can do whatever you think is right. But also remember that old adage: ‘Watch what you wish for!’

Good luck, Mike Tyson.
