In Times of Social Distancing, ‘Being There’ Is Important

, ,

It’s not always possible to be physically present during the pandemic. But you can still ‘be there’ for friends and teammates.

Our country is going through a tough time right now. And, ironically, at a time when people need others for emotional support, face-to-face relationships are limited.

Among other things, missing is what kids have always taken for granted–neighborhood games. I’m talking about playing catch in the street, joining buddies for a game of touch football, or going next door to ask a friend, “Wanna go outside and play?”

In sports, camaraderie is in hiatus. It means not being with teammates–practicing together, celebrating a big win, and consoling each other after a painful loss.

Yes, our nation is going through a tough time. Until the pandemic is over, remember that even though physical contact is limited,  you always stay in touch. That goes for teammates and friends. Stay in touch. Be there for them.

Doing that always means a lot. But in times of ‘social distancing,’ it means even more.
