Rapper 9lokknine Has Football Ties

It wasn’t your typical team, though.

Rapper 9lokknine is well known for hits like the YNW Melly-assisted 223s, which quickly went viral on Tik Tok. He has built a reputation in modern rap and is a nominee on 2020’s XXL Freshman Class list.

But before he rapped, 9lokknine played football player on his jail football team. “I went to this ‘lil private school called AGAPE, we had like a little jail football team,” he told XXL. “Everybody was a felon. That ain’t go too well. We lost every game.”

His original dream was to be in the NFL, and he modeled his gridiron technique after Minkah Fitzpatrick of The Dolphins. “He played for Alabama,” he said of Fitzpatrick. “He gon’ come down and drop that helmet. He ain’t afraid of nothin’.”

I’d love to be XXL’s first Freshman Class Writer this year. I feel like writers are overlooked and abused way too much by musicians. These writers made these artists who they are. So please send XXL some emails asking them to put me on the list as the first XXL Freshman Class Writer. Thanks.
