‘Selection Sunday’ Is Here! (for Music, not Teams)

, , ,

Even though March Madness has been canceled and ‘Selection Sunday’ won’t be airing today, we can still celebrate music that basketball players love. So here’s my ‘Selection Sunday.’

Here are my top ten favorites.

Tragic, Luh Chri: The first song is from my good friend, Luh Chri. With over 2,000 plays on this song (and counting), this song is sure to get you ready for the game of life.

Jet Lag, Simple Plan: This is one of my favorite groups.

L Life, GQ DaSteppa, and DaReal OC: GQ DaSteppa is also a good friend of mine. This song he did with DaReal OC has all the elements of a good sports song. The beat and guitar…and more…makes it so!

That Way, Lil Uzi Vert: I think more sports arenas should play this song before games. It’s that good!

Welcome To The Party, Pop Smoke: The late Pop Smoke gets a posthumous spot on my list. I think this song will be popular for generations to come–and Pop Smoke will, too.

Out Da Mud, GoM: It’s from another friend of mine who has a lot of talent. Out Da Mud is similar to a Blueface song, except that it’s anything but offbeat.

Reinventing Your Exit, Underoath: Here’s another of my favorites. The beat is there. So are the lyrics.

Attention!, XXXTENTACION: Here’s another spot on my list that’s occupied by a deceased artist. This X song is off his last album, and it has all the elements of a good sports song.

Hocus Pocus, DJ Kay Flay, A Boogie, Blueface, and Moneybagg Yo-: The downside of this song is Blueface’s offbeat rapping and constant use of the N-word.

Stupid, Hella Sketchy: Here’s yet another spot accorded posthumously, this time to Hella Sketchy. I love the melancholic lyrics!

There you are! Yes, it’s terrible we won’t be able to enjoy ‘March Madness.’ But we still have tunes to get us through the next three weeks–and beyond. So, people, get revved up and moving!

Postscript: Yes, it’s a very difficult time in the world of sports. Hopefully, this pandemic will end soon. In the meantime, be safe and stay positive.
