Kenny Rogers and Sports Were Inseparable

,

Rogers was a sports fan.

Last Friday, we lost country great Kenny Rogers at the age of 81. With hits like The Gambler, he built a legacy that included three Grammys and other accolades.

Sports were intertwined in Rogers’ life. For example, in 1988, basketball stars surrounded him during a three-day fundraiser that he held at his Georgia home. Among those attending were Larry Bird and Michael Jordan.

He also had a special relationship with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Rogers lived an extraordinary life and will be missed.

__________

I was lucky to meet his old roadie. RIP Kenny Rogers.
