Kudos to ‘Robot Chicken’ for Its Parody on Weight-Loss Competitions

The hit show, Robot Chicken, is well known for its parodies of popular culture. And one of the best episodes is “The Fattest Fat Loser“–an irreverent take on weight-loss sports competitions.

The episode of Robot Chicken opens with introductions from the competitors, which include Miss Piggy, Mario, Garfield, and Winnie The Pooh. They have one goal–to lose weight. Their fitness trainer for the competition is none other than Barbie, that self-conscious, body-worrier.

The first phase of the competition is in the gym. We see Mario boxing and doing his signature jump as Barbie yells at him. Then we see Miss Piggy spar with Barbie in a karate match. At first, the pig is confident (she’s a fourth-degree black belt), but Barbie ends up beating her.

The next phase is a race. The four competitors–each with a wheelbarrow full of their favorite food–race up to the hill. Winnie the Pooh wants to win for Eeyore, who had ‘lost his long battle with depression’ by ‘hanging himself with his tail.’ Yikes!

When the race begins, Winnie and Garfield take the lead. Miss Piggy ends up winning the race, but not without paying a price. As soon as she wins, Mario mistakes her for prosciutto and…well…he joins Garfield and Winnie in a ‘hog-fest’ (that is, they start eating the pig).

But never entirely down and out, Miss Piggy (what’s left of her, at least) wins the competition because she ‘shed’ a total of 174 pounds. Meanwhile, the other three competitors (largely because of their predatory act) gained a combined 174 pounds.

Robot Chicken knows how to pull off a spoof! For that, I say, “Good job.”
