Before His Hit, Shotta Flow, NLE Choppa Used to Play Basketball

, ,

Here’s another personality who combines rap with a lifelong love of basketball.

Rapper NLE Choppa is well known for the sensational hit single, Shotta Flow, which has millions of streams and views. For his work, Choppa has him respect from Meek Mill and Stevie Wonder, among others.

But before achieving music fame, Choppa had a different accomplishment to be proud of–basketball.

Choppa played on the basketball team while he attended Cordova High School. He played, that is, until his bad ways caught up with him and he was forced to quit the team ‘to get his act together.’ Losing the privilege of playing sports was a wake-up call. Choppa got his act together and started rapping.

That doesn’t mean basketball is out of his life. LeBron James has commented about Choppa’s fine court skills, which Choppa showed off during a BET basketball game.

I dedicate this article to NLE Choppa, who (at 17 years of age) is about to become a father.  No teenager should have to carry the burden of fatherhood. I urge my readers to use social media to send love Choppa’s way.
