RIP, Kobe Bryant

A global force has left us.

On Sunday, we woke to the news that basketball great Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter had died in a helicopter crash in California. Bryant was 41.

Bryant was a giant in the world of basketball, one of the best to have ever played the game. He was the 2008 NBA MVP, a double-digit All-Star, and a five-time NBA champion–all in a 20-year career with just one team, the LA Lakers.

I feel for his family. No family should ever have to lose two family members at once.

With dignity and discipline, last night, the Grammys paid respects to Bryant. Alicia Keys, Boyz II Men, Lizzo, Aerosmith, Run DMC, DJ Khaled, John Legend, Kirk Franklin, Meek Mill, Roddy Rich, YG, and more … helped us remember how Bryant inspired us–in basketball and beyond.

I have taken the liberty of creating a beat in Kobe’s honor. You can listen to it here.

RIP to a legend, Kobe Bryant.
