‘Football Potential,’ An Original Screenplay (Scene Two)

,

We open Scene Two in the halls of Westbrook County (IA) High School. Geykume is walking with crutches (he tore his Achilles in the previous scene). He sees Coach Geoffrey.

Geoffrey: “Hey, Geykume!”

Geykume: “Hey, Coach!”

Geoffrey: “So how did your stay in the hospital go?”

Geykume: “Well, I tore my Achilles tendon, and the doctor says I might never play football again.”

Geoffrey: {Shocked} “That’s never good! You’re our star quarterback! I’m sure you’ll heal.”

Geykume: {Confident} “Me too!” {He gets serious} “But…

Geoffrey: {Concerned.} “But what?”

Geykume: “Andrew told me about ‘The Sports Fast Life’ and invited me to join them.”

Geoffrey: {Mad and shocked} “What?! Is he insane?! They are the most notorious group of druggies and womanizing athletes at this school! I hear one of its members is serving life for a crime he did a year ago! Stay away from them! They’re bad news!”

Geykume: {Agreeing} “OK, I will.”

Geoffrey: “Good boy! I’ll see you later.”

{Coach Geoffrey pats Geykume on the back and goes back to his classroom.

A time card pops up reading, ‘a few hours later…

We are now in ‘The Sports Fast Life’ fraternity house. It’s A Bad Dream by 93Punx, and Good Charlotte, are playing. Athletes are injecting themselves with drugs, making out, dancing, and having a good time.

Just then, Geykume and Andrew walk in.}

Andrew: “Alright, guys! We have a new member right here! This is ‘the Geykume Effect!'”

Member One: “The star quarterback of the football team!”

Andrew: “Yes! His Achilles is torn So he’ll be partying with us!

{We hear cheers from the party goers.}

{Andrew shows Geykume around.}

Andrew: “Geykume, this is Boris. He made the all-state team for soccer last year.”

Boris: “Hey, Geykume!”

Geykume: {Shy.} Hey!

Boris: {Shows Geykume some LSD.} “You need to try this!”

Geykume: {Hesitant} “I don’t know.”

Boris: {Urging} “Come on! It’ll make you feel good!”

{Geykume takes the LSD tablet and sees a young girl with brown hair and blue eyes staring at him.

Wanted by Hunter Hayes starts playing.}

Andrew: {Notices Geykume staring at the girl.} “Oooh! Have the hots for Stormi, I see.”

Geykume: “Who?”

Andrew: “Stormi Thunder? She’s the #1 cheerleader in Iowa! You should go talk to her!”

Geykume: {Hesitant} “I don’t know, man.”

Boris: {Pulls out a Percocet and gives it to Geykume.} “This’ll calm your nerves. Now, go get ’em, Tiger!”

{Geykume walks over to Stormi and giggles.}

Stormi: “Hi, I’m Stormi.”

Geykume: {Nervous.} “Hi, I’m Stormi. No! I mean, I’m Geykume.”

Stormi: “I saw you staring at me over there. You look hot!”

{Stormi caresses Geykume’s face.}

Geykume: “Likewise.”

{Geykume and Stormi stare into each other’s eyes and begin to kiss.

But then, a cop busts through the door.}

Cop: “Nobody move! We’ve been getting complaints about loud noise. We need to search this property!

{The cops begin searching through the entire house.

They find LSD, magic mushrooms, Ecstasy, and marijuana. They also find cocaine in Geykume’s bag.}

Cop: “Who’s cocaine is this?!”

Geykume: {Anxiously} “Ummm…. Mine.”

Cop: “Well, you are under arrest for felony possession of cocaine!”

{Geykume looks to his right and left–not sure what to do.

Then, he pushes the cop out of the way and speeds away in his car.}

Cop: “Hey! {he calls his radio.} I need backup! We got a runner!”

{The chase is on. To be continued….}
