Hitting Mason Rudolph with Helmet Wasn’t the Worst Part!

The NFL should expel Myles Garrett from the league.

You’ve seen the replay dozens of times. If you haven’t, see it below. Myles Garrett ripped Mason Rudolph’s helmet off his head and struck him with it.

It was atrocious.  It was criminal.

But even worse was HOW Garrett ripped off the helmet!  One headline said Garrett “took off” Rudolph’s helmet.  TOOK OFF? Did they look carefully at the beginning of the replay?

Garrett lifted Rudolph off the ground BY HIS FACEMASK!  Rudolf’s entire body was defenseless, meaning that he was literally being dragged and lifted by his head and neck. It’s pure luck that Rudolf’s helmet came off when it did.  If it didn’t, he might have been paralyzed at that moment.

I’m not downplaying the severity of Garrett hitting Rudolf with his helmet. It was an assault. But I want the NFL to couple the act with HOW Garrett ripped off the helmet. That act was at least as egregious, if not more, than the hit.

But this was “just one incident,” some people are saying. Yeah, but this ‘one’ incident has two components. When they’re put together, they demonstrate that Myles Garrett shouldn’t be allowed to play football.

Suspension isn’t enough.  The NFL should expel Myles Garrett from the league.
