Mithun Pranav Holds His Own Against Older Chess Players

It was an impressive finish for Pranav–7th place among 55 players.

On Saturday, 6-year old Mithun Pranav, the chess prodigy from India, participated in the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia chess tournament, held in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

Mithun, who turned six years old a few days ago, showed that he’s capable of competing in an older age class.

Pranav participated in the Under 12 category and secured 7th place in a tournament that hosted 55 players. Pranav’s three wins and a draw were against older players. “We are proud and pleased for Mithun,” his father told The Sports Column. “Playing in such a quality tournament against older players will do nothing but help Mithun improve.”
