For YNW Melly and Tay-K, Personal Choices Sealed Doomed Fate

, , , ,

Both rappers referenced murder in their lyrics. Death followed.

Previously on these pages, I’ve written about two rappers with different fates. YNW Melly recorded hits, such as Mixed Personalities, Freddy Krueger, Mama Cry, 772 Love. Tay-K recorded hits, too, such as The Race. But now he’s in prison, serving 55 years for a 2016 crime that left a man dead. Melly might be facing the same fate if he’s convicted for the murders of fellow rappers, YNW Juvy and YNW Sakchaser.

Both Melly and Tay-K referenced murder in their lyrics–a foreshadowing of what was to come–and both men love basketball. ‘Gonna take this Timberwolves game to Insta-Gram live,’ said Melly. ‘So I can call it NBA Live.’ In a video on YouTube, there’s a video entitled, If Tay-K 47 Played Basketball, where the rapper shows off his basketball skills.

For now, though, their careers are over–in music and in sports.

I dedicate this article to Tay-K and YNW Melly as a warning to others. They could be making millions of dollars with fame in the rap world, but personal choices sealed a different fate.
