Never say, “That’s impossible!” Brittany O’Neill showed it is possible.

People from all walks of life have fitness goals. Some goals involve shedding weight. Others do it to get fit. Me? I love to run. I’ve run six half-marathons and one full marathon.

People sometimes ask, “Why do I run?” The simple answer is that I like it!

But this article isn’t about me. It’s about Brittany O’Neill.

A few years back, Brittany focused on her theatre career and having fun, living in NYC with her best friend and roommate, Paul Downs Colaizzo, who’s a filmmaker.

As this story goes, Brittany gained weight and lived a generally unhealthy life. Her doctor told her she needed to lose weight–at least 55 pounds.

Brittany kicked into gear. After researching gym options that were overpriced for her budget, Brittany decided to take up running. She picked up the sport quickly, soon running two miles at a time. She kept running and running–running longer and faster. Brittany shed pounds and was getting close to her personal goal of losing 60 pounds.

To celebrate her accomplishment, Brittany decided to run the New York Marathon. But a tweaked ankle and other physical issues kept her on the marathon sidelines for two years. But she stayed in shape and kept training all the while. Her persistence so inspired Colaizzo that he decided to write a screenplay entitled, Brittany Runs A Marathon.

Brittany O’Neil achieved her goals. She lost weight. She ran the NYC Marathon. Paul Downs Colaizzo achieved his goal, too. He filmed the movie, which stars Jillian Bell (from 22 Jump Street.)

Brittany Runs A Marathon will be released nationwide on September 13th by Amazon Studios. Look for it! You’ll be inspired!
