‘Big Black’ Was Undone By Food

Big’s multifaceted life ended too soon.

Christopher ‘Big Black’ Boykin wasn’t an athlete, but he had a big name in the sports business. Big made his mark in sports security and also co-starred in the reality show, Rob and Big.

After graduating from high school, Big became a military chef. After serving, he worked multiple jobs, including as a security guard for a film company. That’s where he met Rob Dyrdek, with whom he’d eventually co-host a TV show. Dyrdek hired Big as his security guard, and the relationship took off from there.

But Big wasn’t only known for his security work and that TV series. Big was a celebrity eater. He held records for the most bananas peeled and eaten in a minute, and for the most powdered doughnuts eaten in one go.

His weight ballooned and, then, he tried his best to take it off, losing 70 pounds at one point. But overeating and being overweight become a lifestyle. Big died in 2017 at the age of 45.

Big is another example of food becoming a drug.
