Daytona Honors Bob Ross With ‘Happy Little Baseball Night’

Bob Ross! It’s another reason why America loves minor league baseball.

Bob Ross is well known as a TV painter who painted everything from happy little trees to happy little bushes. The late painter lived near where the minor league baseball team, the Daytona Tortugas, play.

Now the painter has a night made by the Tortugas in his honor. The first Bob Ross night was held July 15, 2017. The activities included a Bob Ross Look-A-Like Contest, a pre-game painting class, and a game of Pictionary. There were also two-ticket package deals for the game, which included the pre-game painting class.

The idea popped up during the weekly meeting for ways to promote the Tortugas. Paul Krenzer brought up the idea of Bob Ross and, according to team president Ray Keur, “everybody stopped talking.”

With a phone call to Bob Ross Inc., the ‘Bob Ross Night’ was on. According to Keur, the night was a huge hit, too.

@daytonatortugas best. Idea. Ever, is the way one fan put it on Twitter.

Ross would have been proud, too. He would’ve loved to experience a ‘happy little baseball night’ in his honor.
