Cameron Boyce, The Legacy

I write this article in the loving memory of Cameron Boyce (1999-2019).

Jessie. Descendants. Grown Ups. What do all of those programs have in common? They starred Cameron Boyce, who died last week. While not a sports figure, Boyce did do all of his own dancing, which is a form of sports. He built a legacy in such a short time.

Boyce, born on May 28, 1999, was African American. His paternal grandmother was among the first to attend an integrated school per the Brown v. Board of Education Act. Boyce started performing professionally at the age of 9 in a music video with the rock group, Panic! at the Disco.

From there, Cameron starred in a soap opera, a horror film, and Grown Ups, starring Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, and David Spade. He started working on Disney Channel shows with a cameo in Good Luck Charlie and danced during The Royal Wedding episode of Dancing With The Stars and Shake It Up.

His role as Luke Ross in Jessie and Carlos in the Descendants movie and TV series skyrocketed Boyce to success. He was also a member of the X Mob breakdancing crew.

Cameron died July 6, 2019, at the age of 20. He acted, and danced his way into many hearts, including mine. His legacy lives on in the soon-to-be-released Descendants 3.

May he rest in peace.

Guys, the Cameron Boyce Challenge has got to stop. Can’t believe I even have to post this. I wrote this article to remember his legacy and spread love. Not to disrespect. So the challenge has gotta stop.
