Who would have thought?

Marlon Brando

Marlon Brando was well known for starring in Tennessee Williams’ hit play, A Streetcar Named Desire and the teen rebel film, The Wild One, which stirred up the fears of the adults who thought of teenagers as juvenile delinquents and rebels who loved rock and roll. Brando’s favorite sport was boxing. It’s said that backstage during the play, A Streetcar Named Desire, Brando broke his nose while boxing with one of the stagehands, who happened to be an amateur boxer.

Richard Pryor

Richard Pryor was well known as a comedian in ’70s. He paved the way for other comedians, such as Chris Rock. His impact on sports is not that he played, but that a number of sports stars carry his name. Among them is defensive Richard Pryor.

Marvin Gaye

Marvin Gaye was well known for his RnB hits like Let’s Get It On, What’s Going On, Sexual Healing, and I Heard It Through The Grapevine. Football was among Gaye’s favorites sports (he tried out for the Detroit Lions). Boxing was another sport of choice. He is said to have financed the careers of multiple boxers.
