When It Comes To Sports, Rapper Tee Grizzley Is A Wolverine

“First Day Out” star, a former MSU student now banned from campus, shuns Spartans for Wolverines.

Tee Grizzley (nee Terry Wallace) has had success as a rapper, songwriter, and actor (The After Party). Humble beginnings laid the foundation for fame, but regrettable life circumstances made it possible.

The first in his family to attend college, Grizzley attended Michigan State University, where he studied finance. But as money became tight, he began robbing campus dormitory rooms, eventually fleeing to Kentucky where he was busted for the East Lansing robberies and for holding up a jewelry store there.

Convicted and sent to prison for three years, Grizzley began rapping. His initial hit, First Day Out, had a literal interpretation–written about the first day after his prison release. NBA icon LeBron James liked the song so much that he filmed a video of himself jamming to the song.

After being released, Michigan State didn’t want him back on campus, but that didn’t mean Grizzley (a Detroit native) was through being a fan. “Michigan State don’t want me there,” wrote Grizzley in a tweet posted just a few days ago, “so I be hanging at UofM.” Grizzley was then seen in a photo with the Juwan Howard, the Wolverines new cage coach.

So while Tee isn’t at Michigan State University these days (or any days, for that matter, because he has been banned from campus), he’ll be rooting for the Wolverines from now on.
