For Blues, Are Playoff Hopes Already Gone?

,

Starting the season 0-1-1 has a lot of Blues’ fans down. But there’s plenty of hockey left to play!

How does a team recover from a losing/cold streak? Is recovery even a possibility?

These questions are floating inside the heads of St. Louis Blues fans. After losing the opening games of the 2018-19 campaign to the Jets and Blackhawks, the Blues were headed into Game Three (vs. the Flames) on Thursday night.

Why is there such concern? It comes down to the nitty-gritty–statistics. According to NHL, the Blues aren’t performing. The team is ranked dead last in the Central Division, second to last in the Western Conference, and third to last in the entire league. It’s not looking good for St. Louis.

Some fans are already saying the Blues won’t make the Stanley Cup Playoffs! I’m not sure why fans are so pessimistic after only TWO games … but they are.

Yeah, it looks bad, but it’s too early to make that call. Besides, a negative outlook certainly won’t help the Blues succeed. The way I see it, fans need to support this team, win or loss.

I wrote this article before the Flames and Blues hit the ice. I have hope! I predict the Blues will extinguish the Flames without any signs of burns!

Editor’s note: And the Blues did just that, getting out to a 5-1 lead and holding on for a 5-3 win. The Blackhawks are up next, Saturday night.
