J.J. Watt Epitomizes ‘Greatness’ In Sports

, ,
Athletes, like JJ Watt, should inspire all of us to reach out and help those in need.

There are moments of greatness in every sport. Greatness is something every player aspires to, but only a few achieve. Too many, greatness is determined by how many championships are won, scoring titles are achieved, MVPs are awarded, and other individual records held.

But greatness is so much more than any of those things. To me, greatness is making a difference in peoples’ lives.

While most athletes dedicate themselves to becoming the best players they can be, not all athletes find ways to give back to the society that admires them in sports. J,J. Watt is an example of an athlete who used his athletic status to raise a significant amount of money for the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

Watt is a wonderful example to other athletes … and to all of us, as well. We all should think about what we can do to make the world a better place … and how we can do it.

About Bill Conway

Bill Conway was born in Illinois and has lived in Minnesota, Connecticut, and California. I live currently in Wisconsin with my wife and son. I’ve loved sports ever since I was a kid. I took a “Jack of All Trades” approach when it came to learning and playing sports, but specialized in competitive tennis in college (University of Wisconsin-Waukesha) and was a state doubles champion. I love to talk, listen, and write about sports, specifically about football, baseball, basketball, tennis, and golf. I welcome fan feedback about my sportswriting.
