For NY Giants, Only Hope Is E – L – I

Eli Manning has to assume the same role he did his final year at Ole Miss. He must be a Vocal and Physical Leader.

With the New York Giants on the ropes–and the threat of the knockout punch coming next–where can this team possibly go from here?

This team is falling apart at the seams. There’s a head coach who wasn’t prepared. There’s an injury-ravaged receiving corps. And there’s the suspension of outspoken, fan favorite, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (DRC).

There is only one thing left to do, one man left to turn to. No, it’s not owner Mara. The Giants must turn to Eli Manning (God help us all). The truth of the matter is that he’s the only man prepared to lead this team out of the darkness and back to (at least) respectability.

With two Super Bowl MVPs and a wealth of veteran knowledge, Eli must take that silly look on his face, and call his teammates to step up. He needs the O-line to hold, punch, kick, bite and do whatever it takes to give him time and pave lanes for the running backs. He needs young wide receivers to play like they want a contract next year. That means three-yard slants need to turn into 12-yard first downs.

Eli has to assume the same role he did his final year at Ole’ Miss. He must be a Vocal and Physical Leader. He must step out of character of wanting to be “the nice guy” and step into the role of BOSS.

This team is looking for someone to set the tone. Bring some life. And Eli is the only one left to lead this team.
