It’s safe to say college basketball is in full swing. Universities, like Duke and Kentucky, are packing arenas. Other schools are switching from football to basketball. A big surprise this season is that UNC is now a football powerhouse as the Heels head to the ACC championship game vs. Clemson.

Enough about college football, though. It’s on to college basketball. It’s now the week of the ACC/Big 10 Challenge. Teams are competing in a postseason-like atmosphere. These two conferences are the best in college basketball.

Questions about UNC were quickly answered when it beat Number 2-ranked, Maryland. Earlier this year UNC was thumped on the road by a talented Northern Iowa team. UNC wasn’t they only team that answered questions. Minnesota, which squeaked by Nebraska-Omaha, 93-90, came back to beat Clemson on Monday night.

Let’s talk about teams that have changed a lot since last year. Vanderbilt is a good example. Last year the Commodores were a 5-seed in the NIT. This year VU is ranked #16 (AP) in the nation. And it looks as though Syracuse has turned things around. The Orange are ranked #14 AP and look promising.

This is my report after less than a month of play.
